This policy explains how Spark Website Studio looks after your personal information, as required by the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA). We keep it short and plain on purpose.

      
1. Who is responsible

      
The responsible party and Information Officer is Joshua Webb. Spark Website Studio is a trading name of Joshua Webb, a sole proprietor. Based in South Africa. WhatsApp . Email .

      
2. What we collect, and why

      
    
        
  • Enquiry form: your name, business name, phone number, optional email, what you need and your message. We use these to reply to you and to give you a quote.
    • 
        
  • Client accounts: your name, business, phone, email and a password. The password is stored only as a secure hash, never in plain text. We use these to give you access to your project and preview.
    • 
        
  • Change requests: the messages you send us through the client portal, so we can make the changes you ask for.
    • 
        
  • Preview views: when a preview link is opened we record only the date and time, and how many times it was opened, so we know whether a business has seen its preview. We do not record IP addresses.

3. Why we may do this

      
We process your information with your consent (for example when you tick the box on the enquiry form) and to take steps towards, or carry out, an agreement with you.

      
4. Is giving us your details voluntary?

      
Yes. But without a name, business name, phone number and message we cannot reply to an enquiry, and without account details we cannot give you portal access.

      
5. Cookies and browser storage

      
We set one strictly necessary cookie, and only when you log in: the session cookie that keeps you signed in. We also store one setting in your browser: that you closed the privacy notice. We use no analytics and no advertising or tracking cookies. See the Cookies page for detail.

      
6. Who we share it with

      
We do not sell your information. We use these operators to run the service: Cloudflare, which hosts this website and stores its data and may process data outside South Africa; WhatsApp (Meta) and email providers when you contact us or we contact you. Where information goes outside South Africa we rely on POPIA section 72 (the recipient is bound by law, a binding agreement or similar protections, or you consent).

      
7. How long we keep it

      
Only as long as we need it. Enquiries that do not go ahead are deleted after 12 months. Client account details are kept while we work together and are deleted on request once the project has ended, unless the law requires us to keep them.

      
8. How we protect it

      
Passwords are hashed, connections are encrypted, and access to the records is limited to Joshua Webb. No system is perfect, but we take reasonable steps to keep your information safe.

      
9. If something goes wrong

      
If we believe your personal information has been accessed by someone who should not have it, we will tell the Information Regulator and you as soon as reasonably possible, as POPIA section 22 requires.

      
10. Your rights

      
You may ask us to confirm what we hold about you, give you a copy, correct it, delete it, stop using it, or withdraw your consent at any time. Message us on WhatsApp or email and we will respond. Withdrawing consent does not affect what we did before you withdrew it.

      
11. Direct marketing

      
We only send marketing messages to people who have agreed to receive them, and every message includes a simple way to opt out.

      
12. Complaints

      
If you are unhappy with how we handled your information, please tell us first.
